35km Recreational Ride
The Recreational Ride is for cyclists of all abilities. Individuals, families (children over ten years of age) and social teams who can cycle 35km are all welcome.
Recreational Ride entrants will enjoy:
- An uninterrupted 35km cycle on Melbourne's smoothest road
- A traffic free experience on both carriageways
- A ride through both 1.6km EastLink Tunnels
- An up-close look at EastLink's distinctive urban design and views of Melbourne's east
- An unmatched recreational cycling experience
Cyclists will complete a 35km loop on the EastLink course, starting at the Ringwood Bypass and heading to Police Road and back. The course finishes with a descent and ascent through each of the two tunnels.
Recreational Ride entrants will leave the start site in a controlled stream. You will be supported during your ride with medical facilities, a rider support vehicle, route marshals and water stops.
The Recreational Ride is not timed and is not a race. Participants will have a maximum of 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete the course.
The Recreational Ride is only open to pre-registered participants – no entries are available on the day.
New for 2011 is the Recreational Ride teams category. You can join with friends, workmates or family to form your own team and fundraise together for Hanover and help break the cycle of homelessness.
