Terms and Conditions of Entry
Event and entry information and event rules found at www.rideforhome.com.au form part of these terms and conditions of entry (Terms and Conditions).
Hanover Welfare Services is the Event owner.
The Event is the HANOVER ConnectEast Ride for Home 2011.
You are the Participant or the Ride participant.
These Terms and Conditions are designed to enable the Hanover ConnectEast Ride for Home bike ride on EastLink on Sunday 13 November 2011 to run smoothly and safely. By registering to participate in the Event, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Please take the time to review these terms and conditions and understand your rights and obligations arising from entering the Event and agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
Distance
You may elect to take part in the 75km (Team Time Trial, Individual Challenge, Gerro’s Personal Challenge) or 35km (Recreational Ride) or 15km (15km Fun Ride) option of the Event (Ride). The Ride lengths may not be exactly these distances.
Safety
You understand that cycling on EastLink is a potentially hazardous activity and involves the real and foreseeable risk of serious injury or even death from matters including, but not limited to, accidents with other road users (whether cyclists or motorists), road and weather conditions and equipment failure.
You also understand that EastLink is designed for the traffic of motor vehicles and you agree not to ride in the EastLink emergency lanes unless instructed to do so by race marshals or Event officials.
You attest that you are physically fit and that your bike is in a sound mechanical order and suitable for public road riding prior to undertaking the Event. You understand that no time trial bikes are permitted, only two wheeled, non-motorised bicycles can be used in this Event, and that no other access to EastLink will be allowed to any other form of vehicle or person other than those authorised for the safe management of the Event. Recumbent cycle riders must identify themselves at the point of registration. Any child trailers or seats used in the Event must adhere to the relevant Australian design standard.
During the Event You agree to wear at all times a cycling helmet with straps fastened that complies with the relevant Australian design standard. Any children or minors accompanying Event participants must also wear and have fastened a cycling helmet that complies with the relevant Australian design standard. You also agree to abide by the road rules of Victoria, obey any directions of Victoria Police Event Marshals and Event Officials and ride with care and consideration of other users and Event participants on the road.
You release and indemnify the Event owner, the relevant road authorities, all contractors, partners, servants and agents and all volunteers acting on behalf of the Event from all claims for injury, personal or otherwise against any loss or damage of whatever kind you may suffer or cause as a result of any act(s) or omissions whether negligent or otherwise of the Event owners, relevant road authorities, servants or agents in relation to the Event.
Age Limitations
The minimum age to participate in the 75km Team Trial and Challenge Rides is 16 years or older at the Event date.The minimum age for children participating in the Recreational Ride and 15km Fun Ride is 10 years as at the Event date and children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Children under 10 years must be in a child trailer or seat.
You understand that by agreeing to these Terms and Conditions of Entry, that your participation in the Event includes your permission and the right to use images or video footage of you/your child taken during or at the Event, taken or recorded by Hanover Welfare Services or its authorised agents in all forms of media without any further approval or compensation.
Time Limitations
You understand that there is a time limit in which you are required to complete the Event.
If, during the conduct of the Event Official directs your withdrawal for whatever reason in their absolute discretion, you undertake to comply with this direction. In these circumstances you will voluntarily remove yourself from the course and agree to be transported to the finish area. You agree to indemnify the Event owner against any loss resulting from your failure to comply with this condition.
Recumbent Cyclists
Recumbent cyclists are welcome to participate in the Event. If You are a Recumbent cyclist , You may participate in the 15km Fun Ride, 35km Recreational Ride and Gerro’s Personal Challenge (75km). You understand that Recumbent cyclists must display an upright flag fixed to their bike at a minimum height of 1.5m for the duration of the Event. You understand Recumbent cyclists will be allocated a separate start time in each of the untimed race categories.
Personal Responsibility
You are responsible for all personal property and chattels you bring onto the Event course, area and sites and understand that the Event owner does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage or harm caused to Your personal property and chattels.
The Event owner strongly recommends that You obtain personal accident insurance before taking part. This type of cover is available through membership of Bicycle Victoria who can be contacted at www.bv.com.au or by phone on (03) 8636 8888 The Event owner also recommends that Your bicycle is checked and serviced by a bicycle mechanic prior to using it in the Event.
The waiver that You sign as a condition of entry to the Event does not cover participants for accidents caused by Yourself or another rider. If, during the Ride, you become ill or are injured, the Event owner will endeavour to arrange medical transport, usually in an ambulance. Any medical transport costs must be met by You. The Event owner recommends that You hold current ambulance service membership.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have adequately and are appropriately prepared both physically and mentally for the Ride, and have the appropriate equipment and clothing to do so. If You have any current or past health issues or doubts prior to the Ride, the Event owner recommends that you seek appropriate medical advice before participating in the Event.
Cancellation & Weather
If You wish to cancel your involvement in Event, the Event owner will only refund 80% of entry fees if You, notify the Event owner in writing, providing your name, address, Event number and reason for cancelling before 5pm (AEST) on Monday 24 October 2011. No refunds will be offered for cancellations received after 5pm on Monday 24th October (AEST).
Except as otherwise stated in these Terms and Conditions and as required by law, the Event owner is under no obligation to refund monies or entry fees due to non use, cancellation, failure to participate or dissatisfaction by the rider. The Event owner may, in its absolute discretion and without giving reasons for its decision, accept or refuse an application for registration or cancellation with a refund from participation in the Event.
The Ride will be held outdoors and will proceed notwithstanding extreme weather conditions on the day of the Ride, except where it is deemed necessary to cancel the Event for circumstances that may arise which are beyond the control of the Event owner.
If the Event owner decides to exercise its discretion and cancel the event, the Event owner will endeavour to publish on the Event’s website (www.rideforhome.com.au) as soon as practicable if the Event has been cancelled.
The Event owner is not liable to the Ride participant for any loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind including, but not limited to, refund of entry fees, in the event of extreme weather before, during or after the completion of the Event. .
Acknowledgement
You agree to the printing of your name and Event results in a single edition of ‘The Age’ newspaper in Victoria following the Event.
Privacy
The Event owner collects Your personal information so that you can enter the Event. You can gain access to your personal information on request to the Event owner (events@hanover.org.au) or download a copy of Hanover’s privacy policy at www.hanover.org.au.
The Event owner will disclose Your personal information to ConnectEast and The Age who are partners in conducting the Event. You will have the option of not receiving information from Hanover, ConnectEast and The Age as part of the registration process.
Right Angle Events (the Event manager) will handle the Event registration and payment process as a contractor on behalf of Hanover, but will not retain or use your personal information for any other purpose. Right Angle Events are also the fundraising agency for the Event. Right Angle Events will collect Your information in relation to donations made to support the work of Hanover, but will not retain or use your personal information for any other purpose.
Supersport Images will contact you by email post the Event to offer You the opportunity to purchase photographic reproductions of you and/or Your team taken during the Event. Supersport Images will only have access to your name and email address and these details will not be retained by them following the completion of this promotional activity.
We will not disclose your personal information to any other third party not specified in these Terms and Conditions, except with your express written consent.
If You do not provide your personal information, we will be unable to enter You in the Event.
Where registering on behalf of a corporate team and providing their contact details, You acknowledge that you have made them aware that they will be contacted directly by the Event organiser to welcome them to the Ride for Home and to complete a terms and conditions acknowledgement as part of the event registration process.
Where registering on behalf of other members under the family category, You acknowledge that You have made them aware of the terms and conditions of entry, and that Your acceptance of there terms and conditions is provided for Yourself and on behalf of all other participants that you have registered.
Tax Invoice and GST
This registration form once completed will be a valid Tax Invoice. The taxable supply is provided by Hanover Welfare Services (ABN 89 742 307 083). The total Ride for Home registration entry fee is inclusive of GST. The date of issue of the Tax Invoice will be deemed to be the date of completion of the registration form.

Hanover ConnectEast Cycling Gear Daily Prize Draws
Terms and Conditions
- All individuals who complete a new registration for the 2011 Ride for Home during the 24 hours prior to each daily prize draw are eligible for one entry in the prize draw on that day.
- The first daily prize draw will take place on 20 October 2011. The last daily prize draw will take place on 29 October 2011.
- Entry into the Ride for Home is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
- Entry is open to residents of Australia only.
- Each daily prize draw will be held at 5pm with entries in the prize draw including the Ride for Home registrations that were completed during the 24 hour period prior to 5pm (AEST) on the day of the draw.
- To enter the prize draw, participants must be a Hanover ConnectEast Ride for Home participant who has paid and completed registration on the Hanover ConnectEast Ride for Home 2011 website (www.rideforhome.com.au).
- Each daily prize draw has a single prize, with each prize comprising of a selection of cycling equipment from Vincita Ltd and Aussie Butt Cream.
- The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Each prize is not exchangeable, refundable or transferable and may not be used as part payment of another offer. Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
- The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity in order to claim the prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof if requested, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
- The time of entry will in each case be the time the money is received and registered on Hanover ConnectEast Ride for Home 2011 website (www.rideforhome.com.au).
- Once the prize has left the Promoter’s premises, the Promoter takes no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit.
- Should an entrant’s contact details change during the promotional period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter.
- It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier’s requirements.
- It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
- The winner’s name will be published on the Ride For Home website. (www.rideforhome.com.au)
- The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
- The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify an individual from receiving the prize who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
